I’m joined in this first episode with Anastasia Williams, a multiple Emmy-award winning producer and booker for Good Morning America – and one of my oldest and closest friends. Paid subscribers can access the convo now!

Anastasia and I first met one summer at Johns Hopkin’s Center for Talent Youth. CTY , or ‘nerd camp’ as we called it, provides near-college level course material and age-appropriate fun for… well… weird kids. We both signed up for a course of the history of race and racism in America – like every other middle schooler would.

The Non-State Actress Podcast is a chance for me to talk to cool women doing cool things outside of my day to day bubble and keep in touch with the real world while bringing natsec stuff to regular life.  

I thought Anastasia would be the perfect first guest because, since she’s literally in charge of making the news, I wanted to talk about how she decides what’s a story worth telling.  I also deeply admire her commitment to making sure the stories she believes in get listened to. She’s always a great litmus test for me, and if Anastasia thinks millennial women are hungry for national security info – I believe her.
